The college students are the national trained high-end talents, whose quality will have a direct impact on the potentials for the national future development. With the goal of building an innovation-oriented country, the innovative capacity for the college students has become increasingly important. In the meanwhile, for the demand of social transformation and era, the quality of college students will closely related to the personal employment and an enterprise starting directly. Regardless of the career socially or personally, the college students all need to have a high level of creativity based on professional knowledge and skills acquisition. Therefore, the universities need to make greater efforts on cultivating innovative talents and improving the creativity of college students. Extra-curricular activities of college students will provide them with the approaches for improving their creative ability, and for establishing an effective platform for the transformation from learning knowledge into having capability. This study discussed on the relation between extra-curricular activities of college students and creativity by the empirical research methods in scientific sociology. The results for this research not only can be of practical significance for carrying out scientific and technological activities of universities and enhancing the creativity of college students, but also can enrich the theoretic research on STS and scientific and technological creativity. The relation between extra-curricular activities of college students in science and technology and creativity is used as the research target, with the tool of "Creativity Self-report Scale" and "Creativity Motivation Scale" for the data collection from the undergraduate in Northeastern University, arriving at a conclusion by the analysis through SPSS software for attempting to find out the relativity. Firstly of all, with a guidance of creativity and STS theory, the research programs were designed, with the research target grouped by the ones involved in and non-involved in extra-curricular activities in science and technology for the comparison for the differeneces between the two group of creativity. Secondly, it is grouped by the ones who participated in innovative research projects and Challenge Cup Competition for the comparison between creativity and creativity motivation in the two groups, with the analysis on the differences among these three groups. At last, the relevant extents and the relevant factors were analyzed between college students for extra-curricular activities in science and technology and creativity. The interview was also done for knowing more about the participation in extra-curricular activities that have a great impact on improving enhancing scientific research capacity, learning scientific methods and experiencing the innovative process. The results indicates that the students who participated in extra-curricular activities and did not participate in extra-curricular activities would have some differences in the four creativity factors(open-mindedness, independence and progress, exploration and experiment, tolerance ambiguity) and four creativity motivation factor (extrinsic motivation, attitude of innovation, sensitiveness and alleviating pressures). Base on the reality, the reasons are analyzed in this paper, with the corresponding solutions to the problems in college students extra-curricular activities.
