With the rapid development of economy and society, English as an international language has been spoken and taught in many countries. According to the new English Curriculum Standards, the students'emotion attitude should be emphasized in the education procedures. Teachers should motivate and strengthen students'learning interest, and guide them to learn English out of their own interests willingly and happily, and help them to build up confidence to learn English well.This thesis is an investigation of the English low-achievers'learning interest in junior middle schools. The survey was conducted on 342 junior middle school students in Zhou Kou, Henan Province. During the process of the investigation, such research methods as questionnaire, interview, and classroom observation were employed.The results of the survey reflects the current situation of the English low-achievers'learning interest and reveals factors contributing to their low-achievements. The underachievement of students is a perplexing phenomenon. According to the survey results, the researcher found that English low-achievers'learning interest was not reduced in a day, but gradually. There are many factors affecting their learning interest such as the contradiction between their English level and materials, learning environment, teaching methods. Through the study, the researcher also found that there is a close relationship between teachers and low-achievers. The teachers'interference with low-achievers'learning process has great effects on them.Therefore, language teachers should take some measures to help those English low-achievers improve their learning interest, try to adopt the advanced teaching technology such as multimedia, care for their psychological needs and try to create a free and relaxed learning environment such as involve some foreign cultures in classes.
