To meet the challenge of the new 21st century and cultivate the students'qualities as citizens in the future, the promotion of integrated curriculum is being increasingly. Social Studies was established to develop citizenship, it won the people's great concern. Social Studies is highly valued. Social Studies is already a basic curriculum courses that are offered in many schools around the world. Compared with other countries, Social Studies of the United States is perfect. Especially its social studies courses of primary and secondary schools are perfect. The structure of the social studies course in the United States is rich and varied. It's carried out quite well. The curriculum is mature and has a wealth of theory as a academic support. Social Studies of the United States have had a significant impact on many other countries and regions in the world. The development of the Social Studies in the United States is nearly a hundred years old. It has made a significant impact on other countries which carry out social studies course. Social Studies as a Integrated curriculum of humanities and social sciences, its curriculum structure is a crucial issue. It can be said that the relationship between the curriculum structure and the educational function is very close. Educational function is determined by the curriculum structure. A reasonable curriculum structure will lead to a effective teaching, it is the basic needs and preconditions of the successful education.The paper is surrounding the key issue of the curriculum structure to discuss. The Objective of this research is to analyze the diversified curriculum structure of the United States in United States. Specifically,"How many types of the curriculum structure of the Social Studies in the schools of the United States? The characteristics of the various curriculum structure , and the curriculum ideas."There are mainly four chapters to this paper:Chapter one:"The evolution of the social studies curriculum in the primary and secondary schools of the United States". This chapter describes three stages of the Historical development of the social studies curriculum in the primary and secondary schools of the U.S.Chapter two:"Current situation of the social studies curriculum in the primary and secondary schools of the U.S". This chapter first introduces the overall goal of social studies curriculum. Secondly, this part describes the ideological construction of social studies curriculum. Finally, this part Concludes the current situation of social studies curriculum in the U.S.Chapter three:"Analyzing the curriculum Structure of the Social Studies in the primary and secondary schools of the U.S.". This part is also the emphasis of this thesis. This chapter analyzes the three types of the social studies curriculum structure in the primary and secondary schools of the U.S. Firstly, this part analyzes the structure of the type of social sciences curriculum. Followed by analysis of the type of the structure of the history-social science curriculum. Finally, this part analyzes the type of the curriculum structure released by the National Association of Social Studies. The characteristics and curriculum ideas of each type of curriculum structure are also explored in this part.Chapter four:"The Characteristics of the development of social studies curriculum structure in the primary and secondary schools of the U.S. By analyzing the curriculum structure of Social Studies in the primary and secondary schools of the U.S. to sum up the three major characteristics of the development.
