China-us Comparative Study Of The Social Curriculum Of Primary School

Social Studies is a new curriculum in Chinese curriculum system. From 80s of the twenty-century, we began a reform on curriculum materials in a wide area. The problem of studying social studies in primary schools was discussed at that time, and on 90s the Social Studies curriculum appeared in primary schools.Generally, we have built a basic theoretical framework on the study of our Social Studies curriculum from 1993, but its basic study is still on the beginning stage. From the comparison and analysis among objectives, constructs and contents of Chinese-American social studies curriculum, this paper hopes to provide some theoretical values and arguments for the development of Morality and Social Studies curriculum in China.The history of Social Studies curriculum in American schools already has more than one hundred years, and its curriculum system perfectly developed for it is supported by enough theories. American Social Studies curriculum makes great effects on this curriculum in many other countries and districts. Choosing American Social Studies to study, the author want to improve people's interests on the problems we meet in the development of Social Studies in our country through the way of international comparison. Through studying the development of American Social Studies and learning its advanced experience, it is hoped to provide some help for the establishment and development of our Social Studies curriculum. With the conclusion that the paradigm of Social Studies in today's China is still developing and facing many puzzles, it is hoped that the comparative study of the Social Studies between Chinese and America primary schools may provide some theoretical values and arguments for the establishment and advance development of Morality and Social Studies in China.
