English pronunciation teaching has been a research focus in the field of second language education. Pronunciation is the fundament element of language teaching and learning. Students in primary school are particularly sensitive to pronunciation acquisition, and English teacher's pronunciation has a crucial impact on their students. Therefore, to improve primary school English teaching, the key point is to improve teachers' pronunciation.However, the general situation of English teachers'pronunciation in rural areas is far from satisfactory. Thus, this study investigates this issue in some rural primary schools of Jiaozhou, Shandong. The research attempts to explore the situation of the following three aspects:1) What is the current situation of rural primary school English teaching?2) What problems do English teachers have in pronunciation and what are the causes?3) What suggestions could be offered to improve teachers'pronunciation?The research outcome, based on analyzing the data of questionnaire and class observation, shows that there is no sufficient attention paid to the English pronunciation teaching in rural schools; there is a huge demand for qualified English teachers. They are lack of systematical training on English phonetic system in pre-service teacher education. Therefore, this situation hampers the development of primary school English teaching.Finally, this research aims to find out the situation of the rural primary school English teachers'pronunciation and offer suggestions on improving the teachers' pronunciation.
