The thesis makes a summary about the problems and countermeasures in the implementation of the new high school English curriculum. With the social development of the 21st century and the new demands for talented people, the English teaching reform has become the key point of the teaching reform in the new century. The purpose of choosing thesis is to discuss the main problems in the process of the new high school English curriculum, find out better countermeasures and promote students'abilities of using English. Thus, it helps to promote the teaching of high school English to adapt to the real needs of economic construction and social development.As for the present English curriculum in the senior stage of our national elementary education (i.e. senior secondary school), its educational idea is outmoded and the courses offered lack diversity and selectivity, and it cannot meet the new demands for the senior English curriculum which are proposed for the new situation. The thesis analyzes the world trend of the foreign language curriculum reform. It also analyzes the main problems present in the process of senior English teaching in our country, including the problems of English teachers,teaching evaluation systems,teacher training and teaching conditions and so on. After theoretical consideration to the curriculum standards, combining the teaching practice, adopting action research, it makes a thorough research on how to carrying out the senior English teaching with the idea of the new curriculum standards and puts forward the ways and means of achieving the new curriculum objective in the course of the current English teaching. They are reforming classroom teaching, showing concern for feelings and attitude, improving learning strategy, developing cultural sense, adjust appraisal ways, exploiting and making use of curriculum resources. In addition, the thesis emphasizes that teachers are the significant element of the educational reform, and that teachers are the key to achieve the objective of the new curriculum. This thesis provides the new high school English curriculum with references to ensure its smooth operation by describing and analyzing the objects and by discussing the causes of the problems and putting forward relevant countermeasures.By studying and discussing the main problems in the process of the new high school English curriculum and countermeasures, the thesis helps enrich classroom instruction in senior high English classes and enables English teachers to have definite aims of English teaching so as to enhance the classroom instruction efficiency; it helps develop students'good learning strategies and improve their English.
