Lots of research shows that much attention has been paid to school readiness for children. But most of the children aren't ready for school readiness in China, and researches on school readiness almost focus on the rural and city child, with few study concerning about the Minority People. Some prominent problems exist in the child of Yi People during their development process for the reason of low economic development level and national and cultural differences. If school readiness is not well prepared, this will affect their abilities of adjusting and solving various difficulties they face after they enter the elementary school. With the favorable conditions of personal involvement in testing work, the author tries to focus on the current situation of the child of Yi People for School Readiness. Using methods of test, video analysis and work analysis, the research tests 30 children aged 6 in three schools, including 20 Yi People and 10 Han People with the test instrument of"Chinese child aged 3-6 learning and development guidelines". The author analyzes the current situation in field of language, cognizance, health, art, learning approaches and the whole School Readiness. Result shows that the child of Yi People is not optimistic in every field about School readiness. On the whole: (1)The child of Yi People are lack of language readiness, and their understanding for Chinese and oral ability are weak relatively. (2) the whole level is low in learning approaches field. (3)Obvious advantage in health field for school readiness. (4)Home and school environment have significant effect on child's school readiness. (5)One year's preschool education promotes a lot for the child of Yi People.Meanwhile, the research analyzed the reasons of child on School Readiness through watching children's performance and gathering material from teachers. (1) Home environment: lagging educational concept; desire from parents for school education services is strong; undercapitalizing the family education investment.(2) School environment: the first fact is that teachers'professional qualities is low on the whole so that they cannot conduct educational activities according to child's psychological development characteristic; secondly ,teacher and investment facilities is simple which weaken child's healthy growth ,and curriculum content and teaching form are monotonous in preschool education. (3) Lacking of concern and support from social sectors whether official or unofficial ones.According to the above situation and reasons, researcher proposes several suggestions of promoting school readiness development for child of Yi people as follows: (1) Home environment: Change parents'ideas on family education and paying more attention to early education for child of Yi people; Inhance the communication between parents and schools. (2) School environment: Provide teachers professional training to promote their capacity of organizing activities; Arrange accommodation in preschool to solve their admission for the child of Yi people; Adopt bilingual teaching; (3) Government: Improve their living environment; Increase educational investment and improve condition. To prepare a well preschool education situation for the child of Yi people so as to lessen the distinction with child of Han people at start.
