A Study On Present Status Of The Physical Problem's Multi-Representations In Senior One Students

Appropriate problem representation is the key to solve problem, and a physical problem tend to have multiple representations. Therefore, culturing students'multi-representation ability is the precondition of improving students'problem representation ability and thereby increasing the students'physical problem-solving ability. In this paper, on the basis of previous research, we investigate present status of the physical problem's multi-representations in senior one students, combined with senior one students'physics learning Characteristics, in the form of a questionnaire survey, from four aspects that the use of awareness, grasped situation, converted level and the comprehensive application, reached the following conclusions after a variance analysis under the four background factors of the school type, gender, the advantages of discipline and physical score.(1)Students have some awareness to use multi-representations for a physical problem, but have a bad grasped situation and can't switch flexible between representations. On specific physics topics, students often can't apply synthesized several representation methods, which results in incorrect answers to physical problems.(2)Students generally like the multi-representation in learning physics, but have a weaker trend in use, furthermore, they have another downward trend when given a specific physical problems.(3) Overall, in terms of multi-representation, key middle school's students performed better than the general secondary school's students, boys have better performance than girls, science students performed better than arts students, academic good students performed better than academic poor student.(4) Level of representation of the students'text and mathematical formulas are generally higher than the level of pictorial representations, the ability to reading is better than composite about diagram. The gender differences are not obvious in the representation of the text and mathematical formulas, the boys significantly performed better than girls only in the pictorial representations.In this paper, Analysis of the reasons for the formation of this status is from the two levels of inside and outside. Among them, the internal reasons including cognition, motivation, personality, External causes include the new curriculum ideas implementing not enough for the classroom, the students'multi-representation ability lack of training, inappropriate guiding of the educational goals, and so on. Finally, we propose the corresponding countermeasures on how to improve a student's ability of physical problems'multi-representation.
