Yunnan University Scholarship Management Information Systems Analysis And Design

The evaluation work of scholarship is a very important component in the daily administration of colleges and universities, and to successfully finish the election and recommendation is the basis for the administration of students. Scholarship has the functions of motivation, guidance, feedback, resonance and subsidizing. To complete the evaluation of scholarship has a great influence on the study and psychology of the students. At present, the evaluation work of scholarship is completed in order of the student, the class, the institute and students' affairs office. Therefore, there is a great amount of data to be collected and dealt with. Facing with such vast work, the traditional evaluation procedure is not practical. Besides, there are some uncertainties that affect the precision of evaluation. In a word, it is necessary to achieve the informationization of scholarship management.This paper pays great attention to the current situation and existing problems in the scholarship management home and abroad. With a specific example of Yunnan University, the author analyzes the processes of scholarship management, and confirms the goal and the main functional requirement to build scholarship management information system in our university. According to the standard procedure and practical experience of the evaluation of scholarship in our university as well as the analysis of users, this paper aims to divide the systematic function module into four parts:the department responsible for the work, principal in the institute, class sponsor and instructor, the student. What's more, the paper aims to improve the function based on the following procedure:the application, the first examination and the reexamination of the scholarship. By adopting the analytic technique and design philosophy in modern software engineering, this paper develops the information system for scholarship management in Yunnan University. The system adopts Browser/Server technological model, JSP development technique in the foreground and Oracle database developing technique in the background.Compared with traditional evaluation of scholarship, the new system integrates several kinds of resources. It solves the problems existing in the evaluation process in Yunnan University, such as no common standard, low efficiency of manual entry, mistakes in manual calculation, etc. The system emphasizes the improvement of the convergence and reliability of data. While improving input and calculation efficiency, the system solves the man-made problems, and it makes possible the automated administration of students' archives, scholarship and record. Yunnan University moves ahead of others in the construction of digital campus, and it has built a comprehensive application platform. The system can connect to URP platform, which is used at present in Yunnan University, and provide a powerful support to the scientification, standardization and informationization of the evaluation of scholarship.
