After the reforms, the gross economy of China has increased rapidly, but the economic gap is rising meanwhile. As a typical regional economy, the watershed economic disparity has being widen recently, while reviewing the existing research literatures, there are not many systematic studies about it. So taking Xijiang River for example, based on the analysis of watershed economic characters, this article introduces Lorenz Curve, Theil Index, Location Quotient and Gini coefficient to describe the trend of economic gradient difference of Xijiang Valley. Barro-Sala-I-Martin convergence methods have been used to analyze the economic convergence characteristics of Xijiang Valley from 1990 to 2009, finding that there exists no a convergence from 1990-2000, but exists a convergence during 2001-2009, so does absolute p convergence, and club convergence only exists in upstream and mid-stream.Integrating with location theory, Marxist theory of differential rent, the new economic geography, spatial economics, etc, this article analyzes the factors including the basis of economic development, natural resource endowment, environmental capacity, industry, capital accumulation, marketing and so on, which lead to the economic gap along the Xijiang River. According to the reasons, the article intends to put up relative measures including mainstream economics such as undertaking industries, developing suitable industries, enhancing policy support, strengthening cooperation and so on, and non-mainstream economic development mechanic:Main Function of District—Ecological Compensation—The Local Area Quotas for the Industrial Emissions, in order to narrow the economic disparity and push the coordinated development along the whole watershed.
