Study Of China Mobile's 3G Business Support Capabilities

Chinese mobile communication network has entered into the 3G Era officially from the 2.5G, along with the formal commercialized Third Generation communication networks, such as China Mobile's TD-SCDMA, China Unicorn's WCDMA, and China Telecom's CDMA2000. Confronting with the impacts from revolutionary products and services, as well as new business models, in the 3G Era; the business support capacity will become a powerful weapon for mobile operators acquiring and retaining customers, and achieving customer's profit maximization. Operators need a new generation of Business Support System (BSS), which is more efficient and supportive for entire business operations, in order to sustain 3G business and obtain new competitive advantages. Due to expanded coverage of operators'3G network and gradually deepened 3G business, it is essential to study the support capacity of operators'3G BSS.This article firstly analyzed and studied the products and service, business operation mode in the 3G era, and brought out the analyzing and comparison of operators'different business operating models under the new business mode of the 3G era. Then analyzed and studied the core business functional requirements of the business support system of the 3G era (such as product management, resource management, order management, service configuration and open, data collection, billing, QoS and SLA and partner relationship management, etc.) operational capacity and the technical requirements of the business support system in the 3G era.Then after analyzing the products in 3G era, features of the business mode and the core business capability requirements and technical requirements of the 3G support system in previous chapters, proposed the overall framework design of the support system to meet the requirements of the business capabilities in the 3G era, and studied the functions and relationship of the key function fields and related system included in the overall framework.Finally, this paper analyzed the business capability and function framework of China mobile's current support system with the support system overall capability framework of the 3G business described in Chapter 5 and provided suggestions to the way of the evolution of the 3G business support system.
