Since the 80s of the 20th century, a new partnership among enterprises----"co-opetition"has gradually gained recognition and firstly been realized by transnational enterprises in global market in a form of strategic alliance along with the rapid progress of economic globalization and increasingly rigid market competition. In current researches on co-petition, academic circles lays particular stress on the influences to alliance performance brought by the two parties while documents on competitive strategic alliance as a whole are relatively less than enough, especially those on the evolution of competitive strategic alliances, which have not been expressly shaped.Base on comprehensive analysis of strategic alliances in the theory, strategic alliances between competitors of corporates as the object of study. Using combination of methods between the theoretical explanation and model analysis , development and enriching the theories of strategic alliance of enterprise competitors. It will help Chinese enterprises analyzing partners and alliances in the process of strategic alliance competitors in the future, and enhancing our business in the international market competitiveness.The first part analyzes the content of strategic alliance of enterprise competitors , and gives a specific definition. On this basis, this part analyzes formation motives about the strategic alliance both from the enterprise in terms of external and internal. Based on the correlation analysis with content and motivation, the strategic alliance of enterprise competitors are divided into nine types of species, and the strategic alliance is not only one type, on the contrary most of the alliances is a hybrid type.The second part analyzes the operational environment of strategic alliances based on the competitive environment where enterprises are placed. The evolution of competitors'strategic alliances is also studied in this part as well as that evolutionary patterns of strategic alliances are summarized, from the angle of history and process of the formation of this alliance.The third part focuses on the formation process of competitors'strategic alliances, including conditions of the formation, decision-makings, and selection methods of partner enterprises. Utility theory and expectancy theory are applied to discuss the decision-making of strategic alliances: Only when the subjective utility values of high-level decision-makers match the objective expectations, the alliance can be successfully formed. Key factors in the process of forming competitors'strategic alliances are obtained based on this discussion.The fourth part studies the stability and ending of competitors'strategic alliance. Factors in the analysis of the stability of the process of alliance, with Herzberg's health - incentive theory, health factors ensure the smooth establishment and maintenance of alliance into the daily operation; incentive factors improve the efficiency of alliance to promote the objectives. Finally, the paper analyzes ultimate form of alliances and its impact for competition for businesses and marker.The fifth part concludes by researching and studying cases in competitors'strategic alliances, provides Chinese enterprises with references to establish well-operated strategic alliances.
