A Study On Measurement Of Services Globalization: An Analysis Framework

The service sector is the fastest growing sector in today's global economy and its process which access into international markets is also accelerating. Many people believe that the globalization of service has become the most important part of economic globalization. For analyzing the service trade's position in the world economy and being aware of the impact of globalization of services to economic development correctly, we must construct a rational indicator system of globalization of services'measurement. We can measure the depth of services globalization and estimate the economic impact of globalization by these indicators, and then make targeted policy recommendations. Because of the definitions and connotations of service, service sector and trade in service are debatable and the statistical system for services trade is improving, we can not obtain the overall data of the services trade. Therefore, there is few specialized research to measure the globalization of service.In such pressing needs, this study, at first, establish indicators that measure the globalization of services from three angles, which are flows, subjects and policies; and then calculate the indicator which have data base. The paper establish a regression model by using the above indicators to analyze the services globalization's economic impact, and then make certain policy recommendations in the base of the above analysis and the regression results.There are some conclusions as follows: overall, there is a relatively large gap between the globalization of service trade and the globalization of good trade. FDI in services play a dominant role in the global cross-border investment and the barriers to service trade significantly more than good trade because of the nations'regulatory policy. The impact of service globalization on national economic development is multifaceted. Increasing competitiveness of services and striving to expand outwards are important ways that integrate into world service economy and promote globalization of services. They are also the effective means of promoting the economic development by the globalization of services.The main academic innovations are:(1) Designing a service globalization indicator system from the flow, subject and system, analyzing of the reasons for the indicators'design and explaining theirs'meaning.(2) Calculating the indicators that have data supports. (3) Establishing the regression model to regress the impact between the indicators and the economic development. Suggesting how to promote nations' economy throw the globalization of service, in accordance with the results of the regression model.
