The rural road, a main parts of the national road network, plays an important role in development of rural economics. Together with the construction of the New Socialist Countryside, rural roads experience a booming period. However, owing to the low standard of safety guarantee measurement, the rural road safety faces more and more challenge. With the poor economic situation and topography condition, rural roads in the mountainous area have a very low safety level than they actual need. Consequently, it's important to have a deep study on the safety guarantee technology. Meanwhile, it is necessary to deeply research efficient safety guarantee measurement is required under the situation of low financial subsidy.Based on the former research, this paper researches the main characteristics of mountainous rural road which include the traffic volume, the traffic composition, the operation speed, the characteristic of aliment, the common condition, the characteristic of traffic accidents etc. According to the above study, the paper studies the driving risk evaluation technology which proposes a new Weighted-Analysis-Based theory. The method of road and section safety classification is then proposed. Besides, the current-used dangerous section selection criterion was modified and a new one is provided according to the actual situation of mountainous rural roads. Finally, the paper analyses the current-used safety guarantee facility and studies the applicability and the particularity of corresponding facility. The method provided in the paper hopes to gain perfect protection results while reduce the investment of protection facility.
