The tourism image of Shanxi which has been setting up its own "culture" brand is with the massive historical culture for fundamental key, and has a good reputation at home and abroad. It is especially famous for Yungang Grottoes, Wutai Mountain and Pingyao Ancient City. In addition, the landscape of Taihang Mountain and the Yellow River civilization are aslso explaining Shanxi's natural sights and human culture. As a typical case, Changzhi City with good natural ecological for the base of tourism development has got a broad growth and rising space in perfecting the theme image and brand structure.Currently, Shanxi is working with her neighboring provinces to design three Golden Triangle Tourism Cooperation Zones, i.e. Shanxi-Mongolian-Hebei, Shanxi-Shanxi-Henan and Shanxi-Henan-Hebei. In the tourism cooperation background of seven cities in three provinces on the whole Taihang Mountain Areas, the tourism competitiveness of Changzhi was divided into five parts to analyze. The first part put forward the research background, and introduced the main ideas, article structure, the research procedure, research methods and research content. In the second part the related tourism destination competitiveness were reviewed, and the concept and connotation of tourism destination competitiveness were defined. The third part made a specific comb for tourism development in Changzhi, clearly indicating the present advantages and disadvantages. Selecting seven municipal administrative units in three provinces in Taihang Mountain Area, such as Jinzhong, Hebei, Henan Jiaozuo Handan, Xingtai, Anyang as the object, the fourth part focused on analyzing Changzhi's competition and cooperation environment of tourism development, and constructed the tourism destination competitiveness evaluation model which includes three layers of seven categories of 30 fundamental indices by using analytic hierarchy process to determine the index weight and by comparing with other sample cities for all aspects of tourism development situation. The fifth part aimed at the data analysis results, explained how to improve the competitiveness level of tourist destinations from the aspects of regional cooperation, enterprise alliance, information integration, differentiation of product features. The sixth part pointed out the concluding discussion.
