Quality is the life of an enterprise. Now the competition becoming severely in household appliance enterprises, most of the domestic household appliance enterprises pay much more attention on the quality control, by introducing the new quality control theory, techniques and methods, or by using the national criterion to test the product quality and make sure all the products are in high-quality. However, most enterprises are much more concerned about the manufacture stage when they control the products quality.Based on the analysis of the household appliance enterprises'planning, design and development situation, this thesis proposes a new idea that the enterprises can control the products'quality in the planning stage before the making stage. Based on the FMEA theory, this thesis establishes a FMEA analyze form to evaluate the risk in the course of product, and then give the suggestion and controlling methods. In this way, the appliance enterprises can save the cost, shorten the development time and improve the product quality. This thesis researches about innovation of the water heater based on the FMEA analysis, discusses and analyzes the capability risk, find the principles and reasons to avoid the potential disadvantage. It is useful for the household appliance enterprises in many aspects, such as saving labor, sharing the data and improving the quality in the next development stage.And then, based on the deep research about FTA theory, this thesis explores the development stage in the course of manufacture, confirms the system's top event, build fault tree. Combined with qualitative analysis and quantitative, this thesis analyzes the fault tree. By using qualitative analysis, it can ascertain the influence of the basic event to the fault, and to confirm the priority of the control methods. By using the quantitative analysis, based on the basic event probability, it can calculate the top event probability. In the course of improving, the appliance enterprises can aim at the high probability disadvantage to make decisions, in order to control product quality in the development stage, save the cost of the product.Based on the empirical research, this thesis analyzes the water heater by FMEA and FTA in the course of development. The research results and predictions not only play an important part in improving the product quality, but also provide support for the use of FMEA and FTA.
