Firstly, the working mechanism between the foreign direct investment and industrial structure adjustment was elucidated. By so doing, We can easily make a conclusion that the foreign direct investment helps industry structure adjustment. Secondly, We can make a detailed introduction between the foreign direct investment and industrial structure adjustment by using descriptive statistics analysis method. An overview to the foreign direct investment and industrial structure adjustment was carried out in detail by description statistic methods in Xinjiang. As a result, we know there is intimate relation between the foreign direct investment and industrial structure adjustment in Xinjiang. According to this, the paper come up with the theoretic premise that there is a long and stable relation between them. Finally, by means of empirical methods to verify the formal premise of theoretical analysis. The empirical study demonstrates that the foreign direct investment is an important reason for the industrial structure adjustment of Xinjiang, not only in case of single variable but also multivariable cointegration test.The general conclusion of the paper is that there is intimate relation between foreign direct investment and industrial structure adjustment, but the irrationality of foreign direct investment in xinjiang constraints become an important variable of the adjustment of industrial structure. Therefore, the foreign direct investment is the key constraint variable to the industrial structure adjustment in Xinjiang. So, we can come up with such countermeasures and advices that actively guide foreign direct investment in the proportion of three times industry and further promote foreign direct investment in the third industry and the second industry; Continue to broaden the foreign direct investment fields, promote the industry development; Formulates preferential policies. and further intensify the sevice sector investments dynamics; Foreign direct investment to better promote industrial structural adjustment and optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in Xinjiang.
