A systematical integration of the worldwide resources has been brought by the GMN (Global Manufacturing Networks) which includes different suppliers, flagship companies, subsidiaries and joint ventures. In the GMN, participants of different nature play different roles and manufactures of different capability play different strategic roles. As manufacturing companies with different strategic roles face all kinds of inside and exterior environment, they have different strategy of development and competition strategy. In order to keep the competitive advantage, they also select different competitive priority because of different competition strategy.Based on discussing the relationship between strategic role and competitive priority of manufacturing companies, this paper proposes the model of competitive priority selection (SR-CP model) formulated based on strategic roles. Using empirical data from International Manufacturing Strategy Survey 2009, the model is analyzed. As Ghoshal and Bartlett said in their book, according to the importance of local environment and quantities of local resources, strategic role of manufacturing companies were divided into four types, three of them are included in this paper: executors, contributor and leader. Using SPSS software, we compared the competitive priority indexes of three kinds of manufacturing companies. The analysis results showed that the competitive priority selections made by the manufacturing companies with different strategic roles are different, and some indexes are different among them, but others not. Based on the research above, the map of competitive priority selection formulated based on strategic roles (SR-CP map) and which may offer some advices to manufacturing companies in the decision of competitive priority selection.In view of manufacturing transfer is popular in recent years, the relationship between strategic role and competitive priority of manufacturing companies at different manufacturing internationalization levels is also analyzed. The analysis results showed that the levels of manufacturing internationalization affect the SR-CP model significantly. Based on the research above, the SR-CP maps of manufacturing companies in different manufacturing internationalization levels are proposed. These maps may offer some advices to manufacturing companies in the decision of competitive priority selection when they build a new factory abroad...
