The inventory management of a chemical engineering enterprise is a complex process. For the independent character of the product and the technology of production, and the enterprises management model is also changing, so there is no mature infomationization model can be use for reference. Safety stock is set in a chemical engineering enterprises protect against demand and performance cycle uncertainty. Because the uncertain factors, safety inventory still counts on a experience instead of scientific foundation. Due to the infomationization problem of the chemical engineering enterprise, the article gives the requirement analysis and outline design of inventory system, and seeks the method to measure and calculate the safety inventory. It is practical help to improve the weak status of the chemical engineering enterprise, such as improving the inventory management's infomationization , quantity calculate and analysis ability. This article probes into and analyses the current work flow the material supply department of a chemical engineering enterprise and brings up improving suggestions. In order to develop the inventory management system, Rational Unified Process or RUP is used as a development tools to analyze and configure software process. And the Unified Modeling Language or UML is used as the standard language for construct and design. First talk about Just In Time logistics, ABC product classification, Vendor-managed inventory (VMI), Customer service level, and Cost of Inventories. Then do the requirements analysis of the inventory manage system basis on 7 aspects, including business process analysis, ABC product classification, Vendor-managed inventory (VMI), the safety inventory the inner supply chain d the stock control of class B and class C product and Cost of Inventories. At last, using different safety inventory strategy, due to different product class to design of the inventory manage system. Including 10 subjects, such asConcept frameworks, system frameworks, structure views, process views, physics views, user role, user case, some business sequence map, EDI contents, page style, to create the logical model of the target system.The study shows that, to link up the reality of the chemical engineering enterprise, to do safety inventory management, is very helpful to improve the cost of the company and the core competition ability by reducing the stock and enhancing the material circulation.
