Our country is a united one with lots of ethnic. Ethnic economy occupies a significant position in socialist construction, but the distance of social and economic development between ethnic colony and Han colony is great. Promoting the development of ethnic economy is an important task for our country. When we develop ethnic economic, how to make the help from outside and the experience from Others agree with the local people's real situation and development to achieve balanced development is a problem to which needs us to pay full attention The study holds that the rules--- convention, morals, cultural tradition, values and ideology---- restrain people's behaviors which are formed gradually from a long time development of social life. Namely, the informal institution has an important effect on economic development of ethnic. On the one hand, it affects the form of economic activity and social structure and it affects the choices of the model of economic development; on the other hand, with the gradual development of reform and open-up, the inform institution in ethnic changes involuntary. It evokes a deep influence on the development of social and economic in ethnic regions. We need to analyze the reasons behind it, informal institution, because of different conflictions and different systems.The thesis takes Zhoucheng——Yunnan Province'largest Bai group infested village—for an example. Through analyzing the influences of Bai group's informal institution on local economic development, the thesis reveals the importance of informal institution in economic development of national minority. From the case of Zhoucheng village, we can find out that informal institution has a great effect on local economic development. Long time threat of nature disaster and the conflict of more people and fewer lands make the local people have strong risk awareness. They can get with natural environment even complicated social surroundings much better. An aged-old business tradition cultivates rich trade concept. When facing the tide of commodity economy, they can make reasonable judgment according their experience and adopt suitable activities. Worship of their own nationality bestows them open and practical spirit. In the course of wealth-pursuing, they neither swim with the tide nor restrained by tradition. They do not lost their national characters and accept new ideas bravely as well. This attitude makes them get more development chances. In a way, the trust which is the special relationships among family members effectively reduces information deviation, confines opportunism, cut off transaction cost. These inform systems are beneficial to the development of national economy, and they also affect and promote the development of social economy in Zhoucheng.It is obvious that the economic development of a ethnic is restrained not only by the state of productive force but by its cultural tradition in which it exists. The informal institution provides endogenous variable for economic development, value supporting, moral construction and the choices which encourage or restrain people's economic behavior. The importability of informal institution decides that if we copy others'economic development model; we can not achieve real economic development. So it is of great importance to actively and effectively encourage economic development of ethnic. No matter what ethnic it is what system and system innovation it takes, in order to achieve the harmonious development of social economic development, informal institution must be built up.
