The overseas business performance of multinational retail enterprise is closely related with the knowledge of multinational transfer. The success or failure of the retail knowledge that transfers from host nation to home country is in relation to the development of host subsidiaries. This paper discusses the overseas business problems of multinational retail enterprise from the aspect of knowledge transfer. It seems that the prerequisite of retail enterprise overseas expansion is the effective knowledge transfer.However, the multinational knowledge transfer of retail enterprise will not be plain sailing, the process of transfer will meet corresponding difficulties, because knowledge have the character of stickiness, to a certain extent, which will have impact on the quality of multinational transfer. This paper will summed up the factors that knowledge doesn't easily transfer as "the factors of forming the stickiness of knowledge", while based on multinational retail enterprise is a special group, this paper argues that the factors of forming stickiness include:the tacit of knowledge, the low absorptive capacity of subsidiaries and the distance of national culture. A combination of these factors causes the adverseness which is the multinational transfer between parent and subsidiary companies. So the necessary way of multinational retail enterprise improving the efficiency of transfer is to reduce the stickiness of knowledge, this paper from the organizational social capital on research, trying to find the role that the accumulation of social capital of subsidiary plays in host country which reduces the stickiness of knowledge and promotes the knowledge transfer between the parent and subsidiary companies of multinational retail enterprise. In order to improve the typicalness and persuasion, this paper chooses transnational retailer Wal-Mart where is the largest and has the most shops in China as a case, according to the analysis of subsidiary business of Wal-Mart in China, it researches the effect that the factors of knowledge stickiness have on the multinational transfer of retail knowledge, at the same time it explores the regulating action of organizational social capital between the retail knowledge transfer of parent and subsidiaries. The mainly research methods are literature research and case studies, the aim of the study is according to the practical case analysis, which provides basis to the overseas business of multinational retail enterprise and finds a way out of knowledge transfer from home country to the overseas subsidiaries of retail enterprise and a way out of increasing transferred efficiency that according to the accumulation of social capital.According to the results of the case study, the mainly finding of this paper include:(1) Multinational retail enterprise should devote to overcome the tacit of knowledge, in order to improve the performance of knowledge transfer. (2) Multinational retail enterprise must improve the absorptive capacity of subsidiaries, in order to improve the ability to the performance of knowledge transfer. (3) Multinational retail enterprise should comprehend that the national cultural distance has an effect on the transfer of knowledge, in order to improve the performance of knowledge transfer. (4) Organization social capital has regulating action in the process of multinational transferring of knowledge, it is the powerful element of accelerating the performance of knowledge transfer, which must be paid much attentions.
