The environment of domestic and international markets has been changed after the 2008 financial crisis. RMB meets its steady appreciation period, as China is under the pressures from the developed western countries especially America. Chinese labor's minimum wage level is steady increasing, for China's government wants to reduce the Chinese income gap. These reduce the competitiveness of Chinese traditional industrial clusters which depend on the low cost. Even more, some labor intensive traditional industrial clusters transfer to the less developing countries around China. In this context, the only way to deal with these problems is Industry Upgrade. But Industry Upgrade needs the clustered enterprises to pay more attention to absorbing, creating and applying the knowledge; Chinese traditional clustered enterprises must regard knowledge management as an important thing, and grasp every link of the value chain of knowledge for impelling the innovations of them. On this basis, this paper analyses the competitiveness of the clustered enterprises on the view of value chain of knowledge. Firstly, this paper summarizes the theories of the competitiveness of the clustered enterprises and the value chain of knowledge, and analysis the relationship between them. And then, this paper advances the analysis model of traditional clustered enterprises which are based on the value chain of knowledge. The analysis finds out four critical links which have great influence on the competitiveness of Chinese traditional industrial clusters. The links are as follows:first, the strategies of traditional clustered enterprises determine the knowledge requirement; second, the recognition of clustered enterprises on employees'knowledge influences the competitiveness; third, the knowledge supply capacities of the institutes of traditional industrial clusters influence the competitiveness; fourth, the supports from the local government influence on the competitiveness. Thirdly, the paper applies this model to analyze an enterprise in the man-made jewel industrial cluster of Wuzhou. Finally, after analyzing the value chain of knowledge, it finds out the key links which influence their competitiveness, and strengthen the Optimization of clustered enterprise's value chain of knowledge.
