Study On China's Third Part Logistics Industry And Its Evolving Tendency

In the past few years, the development of the third party logistics generates worldwide attention. In developed countries, most enterprises outsourced their logistics functions to a 3PL though signing a long-term logistics service contract. Both business enterprises and 3PL suppliers hold an optimistic attitude towards China's third party logistics prospects. There are a lot of domestic research about 3PL, but mostly based on a certain aspect of 3PL and few studies from the aspects of industry organization. This paper is written to fill this blank, in theory to rich the study of the third party logistics and in practice to give some enlightenments the third party logistics participants. This paper is mainly divided into two parts: one part is the analysis of china's third party logistics industry; the second part is the judgment of china's the third party logistics industry evolution stages and analysis of its evolution trend. The third party logistics is a new industry in china, so this paper define the 3 PL industry firstly to facilitate subsequent research; then using the SCP framework to analyst china 3PL industry's structure, enterprise behavior and performance with the purpose of exploring the main problems existing in china:although the supply and the demand of 3PL is adequate, effective supply can not meet effective demand; market concentration is also very low, most 3PL providers only have the ability to provide basic logistics services, market differentiation is not obvious, price competition is the main competition means, and led to a low average profit of the industry, Great efforts are yet to be made to improve the 3PL performance. Paper also use the industry evolution stage identification methods to judge china's the third party logistics industry evolution stages and use the industry life cycle theory model to analyst its evolution trend. The conclusion is that in China the third party logistics industry is relatively young; in the following years, china's 3PL industry will witness rapid development to mature stage. By the end of this paper, put forward several suggestions for 3PL market participants and policy maker based on the previous analysis.
