With the formal establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) in January 1,2010, Guangxi's status in the international as well as domestic regional economic cooperation has been greatly improved. Under the background of CAFTA, selecting Guangxi and its neighboring provinces including Guangdong, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Hainan as the research objects, this paper studies how to improve the Guangxi's capacity as a bridgehead of the China-ASEAN through regional economic cooperation.This thesis discusses the following issues:Firstly, in the context of CAFTA, in order to promote the "Two Areas and One Region" progress, upgrade industrial structure, improve the transport system, and enhance the competitiveness in ASEAN's market, Guangxi needs to strengthen economic cooperation with surrounding areas. Secondly, the adjacent location, common interests, and significant economic differences are the basic of the cooperation, and the current situation of cooperation need Guangxi and the neighboring provinces further deepen economic cooperation. Thirdly, In the process of economic cooperation with neighboring provinces, Guangxi should be guided by the principles including equality and mutual benefit, complementarity, government guidance and market operation. Make building regional cooperation platform, constructing international access to the sea southwest, following the transfer of industries and tourism cooperation as strategic focus. Finally, proposed some specific recommendations and measures of the cooperation. The author provide references for Guangxi's participation of regional economic cooperation in the framework of CAFTA.
