This thesis researched challenges and future development trend of Shanghai GM vehicle logistics system, which based on the analysis of continual increasing of China auto market.This thesis consists of 5 chapters.The first chapter aimed at current vehicle logistics system analysis, which includes 2-tiers logistics structure operation introduction, circumstance of China auto industry analysis, the challenges and opportunities faced.The second chapter mainly focused on the warehousing system planning analysis, which contains advantages of 2-tiers logistics structure, the planning and responsibilities of VDCs and VSCs, vehicle logistics system optimization scheme.The third chapter talked about transportation mode analysis and plan, which covers characteristics of road, rail and vessel transportation method, transportation mode and percentage adjustment, shipping cost optimization.The proposal for the vehicle logistics IT monitor system optimization and 3rd party & 4th party logistics management providers was raised in the fourth and fifth chapters. According to current logistics system, this thesis showed the optimization proposal of 2-tiers and 1-tier logistics structure gradually.This thesis brought forward the proposal which based on inventory, transportation and related costs analysis and volume plan from 2008 to 2010. Average inventory volume of 2006 can be reduced to 10335 from 10995. The transit time can be shortened to 4.3 days from 5 days. It is expected that all the results will be beneficial not only for the future development of logistics of Shanghai GM, but also for the shipping cost optimization of other auto makers.
