Purpose: Aim to descriptive the behaviors of Macaca fascicularis infree enclosure objectively, hereby we constructed one suitable ethogram forthis species and validated. Method: The methods of All-Occurred-Eventand scan were employed to observer6012subjects in free enclosure, torecorded the all observed actions, and make standard descriptions by meansof words pictures and videos. Moreover, the whole actions classifiedaccording to Position-Action-Location principle. Finally,40subjects wererandomized selected by virtue of Simple Random Sample, seed20101207,to validate this ethogram, and to describe the frequencies and duration ofwhole actions recorded. Result: In a field observation of6012subjects,107distinct behaviors of M. fascicularis were preliminarily described.83ofthese behaviors were then independently validated through a randomizedcohort, parturition and eliminated behaviors were deleted according thepurpose of study,53of these behaviors were then selected to accuratelyreflect the daily mundane activity of the species in a free enclosure.Meanwhile,53actions were classified into12behavioral categories, such as Ingestion, Thermo-regulate, Estrous-rutting, Mate, Parental, Rest,Locomotion, Amicable, Conflict, Vigilance, Communication andMiscellaneous behavior. Conclusion: These findings systematicallydocuments were suitable to describe the behavior of M. fascicularis in afree enclosure under the daytime for use in further investigations.
