The Evaluation Of Urban Environmental Geology In Lhasa City

With more and more urbanization, development of cities in China faces new challenges-problems of population, resources and environment are especially prominent, and influence of geological environment on urban development is also increased day by day. It is becoming a new research area that how to evaluate the urban environmental geology and then make this evaluation more useful for urban planning, construction and management. Some beneficial exploration in this area is carried out in the paper.The plateau city Lhasa has been taken as an example. Various data were collected including social ecomomy, urban planning, climate hydrology, regional geology, natural resources, hydrology geology, engineering geology, geological hazard and environmental geology, et al. Based on these above, main environmental geology problems relating to urban development were surveyed through secondary development of data and field research. Theories and methods of various disciplinary were used in the work, such as environment geology, environmental geochemical and urban ecology science. Based on these above and research status at home and abroad, evaluation index system and evaluation method were determined. Urban geological environment background conditions, various urban geological environment problems and the urban construction suitability of the urban environmental geology were evaluated with the help of software such as Surfer, MapGIS. Besides, various methods of system engineering were used, including analytic hierarchy process, index superposition method, Nemerow index method, Los Heqin index method, qualitative analysis method, et al. New exploration has been carried out in the urban environmental geological evaluation method and establishment of evaluation system. As a result of the practical work, the evaluation method and results can be a reference for the urban geologists and managers.For the geological environment problems of Lhasa, some specific preventive measures and geological suggestions have been put forward based on the evaluation results, which can also be a reference for the urban geologists and managers.
