The Ordovician System is well developed and widespread in Anhui. It hasvariety of sediments and contains abundant fossils. In this thesis, Hule Period,Anhui Province Yangtze plate Ordovician order as the research object, ArcGISgeographic information system software for the platform, building a geospatialdatabase to reflect the ancient tectonic features, sedimentary characteristics, thecharacteristics of palaeobiota and geochemical characteristics. With the principle oftectonic controls of the sedimentary basins and sedimentary basin controls of thesedimentary facies and sedimentary facies reflect the paleogeographic environment;to produce an advantage for GIS spatial analysis, we apply geosciences of spatialdatabase comprehensively. GIS can be used to analyze and infer the spatialdistribution characteristics of sedimentary facies and construct a depositionalmodel. Finally, we can restore the paleogeographic environment.Based on the quantitative and qualitative data from the stratigraphic andpetrographic studies of outcrop and well sections, according to the single factoranalysis and comprehensive mapping method, using ArcGIS software, all factor’sraster maps are made by interpolating observation point data. All single factor mapsof the Hule Period in Anhui province are compiled based on the raster maps.lithofacies and palaeogeographic maps can be produced by overlaying the singlefactor maps. The most important character of these lithofacies andpalaeogeographic maps is quantification. Quantification means that thedetermination of each palaeogeographic unit is based on the accurate quantitativedata and single factor map. These quantitative lithofacies and palaeogeographicmaps are important developments in palaeogeography, and are the guides to theprediction and exploration of oil, gas and other sedimentary mineral resources.
