With the development of society, logistics, as the "third profit source", its importance appeared gradually, more and more get the attention of every industry. The logistics distribution is one the main aspects of logistics system, And the path planning problem as the core of the logistics distribution, has become a focus of research to reduce logistics cos. This paper applied the technology of GIS to the logistics distribution to help us to resolve the problem of path planning. Firstly, this paper study on the concept and development history of the logistics distribution and GIS, and point out the feasibility of the combination of the two technologies. Secondly, on the basis of elaborating the application of the geographic information system in the logistics distribution, this paper puts forward and designs the suitable the general network topology for logistics distribution. Make full use of GIS spatial data characteristic to improve the Dijkstra model as the basis, according to the actual situation of the shortest path between any two path-planning points, to realize optimization path choice in GIS platform. At the same time, this article use GPS/GPRS technologies applied to the system, design and realization of dynamic path planning. In this paper, use MapInfo software as a design platform and MapBasic for developing language. The system design of a total of six modules:user management module, the source of information inquiry module, Logistics enterprise module, the delivery information module, the shortest path analysis module, goods online inquiry module and statistical module. At last, The whole of the system is designed and realized.
