Tungsten and molybdenum are rare, with a high melting point, density, high modulusof elasticity, low vapor pressure, good electro conductibility and high-temperatureresistance, especially those with very low expansion coefficient and other properties.Unlike other materials, tungsten and molybdenum products which based on thoseadvantages and characteristics have been used widely in all aspects of life.First of all, the design system of3-roll Y-type of Tungsten and molybdenum has beenestablished. In this paper, it has discussed the method of groove design of roll, and madechoices about the computation model of roll force, roll torque and temperature drop. Byusing of the Basic language computer program can make the whole preparation to form avisual design interface, and it can generate Holed figures in the VB environment by theinterface of Visual Basic6.0and AutoCAD2004can automatically, also it can generatethe DAT file of parameters and Holed rod size by using of Visual Basic6.0to programme.Secondly, using of finite element analogy to prove that the feasibility of the passschedule for the rolling of tungsten and molybdenum making use of Pro-E software tostructure3-dimensionalmodel. Then taking DEFORM-3D finite element analysis softwareas a platform, to simulate the twelve-pass rolling process for molybdenum from the blankto end product. After observed each pass of rolling deformation visually clearly, we canreach conclusion on the rolling force, rolling torque, temperature field, equivalent stress, velocity distribution in each pass and dimensional accuracy of end product. Finally, comparising the data of rolling forcer, rolling torque, speed and temperaturewhich have been calculated by the roll design system developed in this pape with that offinite element analogy, it analysis that the results of two methods can coincide with eachother, which describes the reliability of the finite element software to calculate themolybdenum rolling process, and it lies the theoretical foundation.for addressing theactual Y-mill pass design.
