In the high-tech research field of aerospace, aviation and high precision medicalequipment, complex free surface is applied, but the traditional three axis CNC machinetool can’t process the complex curved surface graphics, so the paper introduces five axisCNC machine tools in the surface processing. In the five axis CNC machining process,because of the introduction of the two coordinate, the collision phenomenon happensvery easily. The collision can lead to workpiece damaged, sometimes can lead tomachine and tools damaged.According to the need of the five coordinate CNC machine, this paper is based onthe level of real direction of cutting tools modeling technology to avoid to the collisionphenomenon of the tools. In the view of the complex workpiece surface decomposition,the workpiece surface is designed by triangle and discrete. The paper uses octreealgorithm on the curved surface storage. Finally, the mixed real-time collision detectionalgorithm is applied to the real-time collision detection of five axis CNC machine. Themain content and the research results are as follows:1. The paper proposes the bounding box modeling technology to avoid to the errorbetween the bounding box and tool. Through the decomposition of the tools, the papersets up an oriented bounding box tree and updates the corresponding model to lay agood foundation for the real-time collision detection.2. The paper proposes the technology of the workpiece surface modeling to avoid tothe characteristics of the difficulty of modeling the workpiece surface. Firstly, analyzethe geometric representation of the workpiece surface, and then design workpiecesurface. Finally, establish the octree algorithm of workpiece surface model.3. The paper designs and realizes the mixed real-time collision detection model forfive axis CNC system to monitor the machine running track to avoid the inefficient ofthe collision detection. Finally, analyze the results of the real-time collision detection,and work out the correctness of the algorithm.
