Temper rolling is an important procedure which is close to end product in the plateand strip production process, and its level will directly affect the product quality of strip.With the increasingly high requirements of users in the shape, mechanical character andsurface quality of strip, temper rolling process has become an extremely important andindispensable part of the current strip steel production. In this thesis, depending on solvingfield subject, 1220 and 1420 double stand temper mill are selected as the object of theresearch, moreover, friction coefficient model and shape model of temper mill in theabnormal rolling process are under profoundly research. Basic research contentsdemonstrate as follows:Firstly, after a number of field experiments and theoretical studies, fully combinedwith the friction characteristic of dry temper, based on a brief introduction of the basictheory of roughness, a math model of correspondent relationship between roughness ofworking roll and strip surface and friction coefficient is established and calculativestrategy of the model is also suggested. This model has been applied in productionpractice and effect of roughness of work roll and strip surface on friction coefficient isunder quantitative anaiysis.Secondly, based on lots of field experiments and theoretical studies, fully combinedwith the feature of temper mill’s equipment and abnormal rolling process, an abnormalshape model has been built for four-high temper mill, and the simulation software is aslobeen programed. Taking a 1420 temper mill as an object, the effect of strip running off,asymmetric roll shape, deviation of rolling center line and roll center line, etc. on stripshape is analyzed quantitatively by related model and software. This study provides basisfor control shape wave in field.Finally, the model of friction coefficient is applied to a 1220 double stand temper millon prediction of rolling force and control of elongation. And based on the abnormal shapemodel of temper mill, a device named the virtual shapemeter is designed and thecorresponding closed-loop control system is developed. They are applied to a 1220 temper mill on control of strip shape.As a result, after using the model of friction coefficient inthis thesis, the accuracy of prediction on rollong force and rate of elongation is over 90%.Besides, after taking the abnormal shape model into control, steel coils whose wave heightequal or lesser than 3.0mm reach to 95% and gradient equal or lesser than 1.0% come to93%, which is satisfied with the demand of high-end users. Hence, this research canprovide considerable profits and have value of wide spread and further application.
