As the rapid development of modern industry and technology, the demand of varioustrades and industries for steel products, particularly cold (hot) rolled thin strips increasedcontinuously. The criteria for the strip surface quality and dimensional accuracy becomeeven more strict simultaneously. To improve the rolling speed and product quality isconsidered to be one of the important direction for future development of the steel industry. The vibration of rolling mill running is the main obstacles in improving trading productionand quality,Torsional vibration frequency of mill’s main drive system is slow, generallybetween 5 and 20Hz. It causes the alternating stripes light and dim vertical to the rollingstrip surface, occasionally fluctuates with these corresponding strips when vibration bestrong. Moreover, it may impact the shape, thickness and surface quality of steel strips. Tostudy the torsional vibration of the mill’s main drive is significant to improve the qualityof steel strips. This paper established respectively the lumped parameter system、continuous qualityroll model and rolling process model of main driving system. Through collecting thelumped parameter system analysis, the inherent characteristics of rolling main drivesystem and the response to external disturbance torque, as well as the analyze of thecontinuous quality roll model and the quality roll system’s response under the externaldisturbance torque. And with the rolling process model, the effects of main parameters ofdisturbance torque on the rolling process is acquired. This subject processes simulative calculation through adopting parameters of arolling units of a domestic steel company. Main rolling deformation area parameters andpost tension is dramatically affected while first-order resonance of the mill main drivesystem occurs. It has certain theoretical meaning and referential value to the research ofthe torsional vibration of main driving system, rolling process and dynamic performance.
