Beijing, an international metropolis, is presently suffering desertification andwater shortage. Water resources shortage becomes one of the main factors restrictingdevelopment of Beijing due to successive occurrence of dry years, water resourcesshortage and contradiction between water resources supply and requirement. At thesame time, groundwater is seriously polluted with the increase of discharge amountand transportation of various pollutants resulting from improper human activities.Because Beijing is the center of society, politics, economy, military and culture, waterresources protection is a key problem that impacts its capital position and influence ineconomy, politics and society in the world.Two third of the water resources of Beijing is supplied by groundwater,suggesting groundwater is playing a crucial role in supporting development of Beijing.With development of the city, water requirement is increasing, and sustainable watersupply is becoming increasing important for the development of the city. Studiesagainst well field are mostly focusing on quantity of groundwater, but seldom on thesustainable operation from groundwater quality.Drinking water safety is closed related with the health of millions of people.Ensuring drinking water safety, meet the increasing requirement of drinking water,and health of millions people are the top priorities in our work in putting people first,building harmony society, realizing harmony relationship between human and natureand all-around, harmonious and sustainable development of society and economy.《State council on the implementation of scientific outlook on development tostrengthen environmental protection decision》 put forward that drinking waterresources sites protection area should be delimited and adjusted scientifically,drinking water sites protection should be effectively strengthened, alternate waterresources sites for city should be built and safe drinking water for rural people shouldbe provided. Therefore, delimiting of drinking water sites protection area is animportant measurement to prevent drinking water sites from impacting of human activities and ensure water quality safety as much as possible.From the view of water quality, study on pollution risk assessment of a typicalwater works–the eighth water works was carried out and particle tracing method wasused to delimit prevention and control area for water resources sites.The thesis aims at serving city planning based on investigation of groundwaterpollution.Current achievement was collected and arranged and comprehensive analysiscombined with actual investigation results was carried out. Necessary actual situationinvestigation and groundwater sampling and analysis were made to assessgroundwater pollution risk and start research on groundwater pollution prevention andcontrol.Current achievement was sufficiently used, necessary investigation was carriedout, and groundwater aquifer vulnerability, pollution source load risk and pollutionharmfulness were combined to assess groundwater pollution risk and buildgroundwater pollution solute transport numerical model.On the basis of 《Technical Guideline for Delineating Source Water ProtectionAreas(HJ/T338-2007)》, comprehensive considering groundwater pollution riskassessment result, pollution prevention and control area of the eighth water works wasdelineated, based on which pollution and control measurements were put forward.Following conclusions can be drawn based on the research results:(1)Groundwater quality in the study area is in good conditions as a whole,which is classified into grade I and II. Nitrate nitrogen and total hardness beyondstandard occurred in Xincheng, Shilipu and Henanzhen in Miyun, indicating badconditions.(2)The impact of reused water in river on groundwater quality, especially onthe eighth water works, is predicted by groundwater numerical model under currentcondition and emergency scenarios. Simulated results indicate that water supplysafety of the eighth water works may be affected by reused water in river after20years under the two scenarios.(3)Groundwater pollution risk assessment technical method was carried outand groundwater pollution risk assessment system and mode were built from aquifervulnerability, pollution source load risk and pollution harmfulness.(4)Central protection area, major protection area, general protection area and major remedy area were delineated based on groundwater model, and protection andremedy measurements for all areas were made.
