High speed machining is developed to be a promising advanced manufacturing technology for increasing productivity and reducing production costs dramatically in recent years. The spindle system of machine tool is strategically critical to the implementation of high speed machining, and the motorized spindle is the core part, its performance determines the machinability of the high speed machine tool. Therefore, it is better to learn about motorized spindle in order to master the machinability of. the high speed machine tool, mainly the dynamic and static characteristics of the motorized spindle.This paper proposes reforming solutions for M7130grinding machine, which is to remove the original spindle system with the high-speed motorized spindle, based on analyzing the simulation models of the spindle system and guide rail by ANSYS. Then the guide rail is redesigned and its structural behavior is studied. Those have certain reference value for high-speed reformation of machine tool in future. The dynamic and static characteristics of the motorized spindle and guide rail are studied by FEM analysis method and considering the factors which influencing their characteristics in this paper. Specific contents are as follows:1) Through modeling and analyzing the mechanical quality of angular contact ball bearing, the static rigidity of bearing is calculated; Studying the effect of the axial preload of the bearings on the static rigidity; The damping coefficient of the bearings is calculated by the experiential formula.2) The FEM model of the motorized spindle is established in ANSYS, the static rigidity of the motorized spindle is calculated by studying the static characteristics of the model. Meanwhile, the influence of the axial preload of the bearing on the static rigidity of motorized spindle is analyzing.3) A more accurate three dimensional FEM dynamic model of the motorized spindle is established to study its dynamic characteristics. Through researching on the modal and harmonic characteristics of the model, the corresponding vibration shapes, natural frequencies and limited speed of the motorized spindle which are as dynamic reference data for the design of guide rail are obtained. Meanwhile, the influence of the axial preload of the bearings on the spindle’s natural frequencies is studied; The dynamic stiffness of the motorized spindle is studied by analyzing the maximum dynamic displacements of the leading-end, rotor and back-end on the spindle. The dynamic characteristic parameters of the reformed M7130grinding machine are well mastered through analysis of the dynamic characteristics of the motorized spindle.4) The FEM model of the guide rail is set up in ANSYS and its static rigidity is got by the static analysis of the model, verify the rationality of the guide rail’s static design.5) The three dimensional FEM model of the guide rail is built up, which is to research on its modal characteristics and obtain the corresponding vibration shapes, natural frequencies and limited speed of the guide rail, verify the rationality of the guide rail’s dynamic design.6) Designing the shield, cooling tube of the machine tool and connecting piece of guide rail and hydraulic control device. Assembling and debugging the cooling lubrication devices and control devices of the motorized spindle.
