With the rapid development of the manufacturing, higher quality of the machine tools are requested. Modern machine tools design method mainly focus on dynamic performance more than static performance. The study indicates that dynamic performance of machine tools’joints play an important role in dynamic performance of machine tool. Machine tools’ joints belong to flexible combine, which can both store and consume energy in the mutual movement, representing both elastic and damping.Referred to previous research results, the modal parameters of joint’are obtained by using experimental modal analysis methods. Vibration exciter excited on the machine tools’ joints, the acceleration sensor that installed on the machine get the vibration signals, which were sent into the modal identification program written in Lab VIEW, to identify the natural frequencies and vibration parameters of joints. The finite element optimize parameters identified methods was used to identify the stiffness and damping of the joints.The FEM software ANSYS was used to build the finite element model of the TX6916boring and milling machine, stiffness and damping of the joints were simulated by COMBIN14element. According to the identified stiffness values, damping value of the joints, and the number of COMBIN14unit, the COMBIN14unit series-parallel relations, the parameters of COMBIN14unit was set. The theoretical model’s natural frequencies and mode shapes were obtained through the modal analysis. Based on the analysis of each vibration mode in the X, Y, Z three directions participation factor, the dominated modes of the boring and milling machine were achieved.. According to the modal analysis results, the weakness of the boring and milling machine were found and the appropriate improvements were came up with.To verify the correctness of the finite element mode, mode experimental is carried out on boring and milling machine and the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the machine tools were obtained. Then the Experimental results were compared with the theoretical analysis results, to verify the effectiveness of the finite element mode and provide basis for the design improvement of the machine.
