Natural rubber has good elasticity, medium resistance and abrasive resistance. As a result,it is used in many fields such as tire industry, automobile parts, rubber overshoes, electronics, aerospace, national defense and so on. However, natural rubber is nonpolar, which makes itbadly adhered to polar materials, take polyurethane materials for example. As rubbercomposite materials being widely used in fields of tire, automobile parts and so on, theadhesion between rubber composite materials and other materials has become an importantissue. There are mainly two methods to improve the interface adhesive strength of nonpolarrubber composite materials, one way is the treatment of rubber surface, i.e. introducing activegroups into the surface in order to improve the wettability of the rubber, which is good foradhesives to permeate, wetting and to produce chemical bonds; the other method is modifiedadhesives, i.e. introducing groups that can produce chemical bonds with adhered materials viachanging the compositions of adhesives in order to improve the adhesive property. In this paper sulfuric acid solution, chloros acid solution, chloramine-T solution were usedto treat vulcanized natural rubber in order to improve the adhesive property with castedpolyurethane. The influences of disposing time and disposing solution concentration on thesurface adhesive property of vulcanized natural rubber were studied via T-peal strength test,SEM, FTIR, EDX and so on. The result showed that: chemical treatment method couldimprove the surface topography and chemical properties of natural rubber surface, which wasgood for improving the adhesive strength, then the adhesive property of natural rubber wasable to be enhanced.
