Laminated veneer lumber is an important structural material, and can replace the traditional wood lumber effectively. In foreign countries, laminated veneer lumber has been widely used. At present, China’s veneer manufacturer doesn’t have effective quality testing equipment, therefore, production and product quality cannot be guaranteed. Studying on laminated veneer lumber online non-destructive testing system can improve the product quality; prevent the waste of timber, save timber resources indirectly. It also can improve production efficiency, reduce production costs, and improve the degree of automation of the entire production line.This system consists of ultrasonic receiver and transmitter module, the time of detection modules, the width of the detection module and the PC software. The system can grade the laminated veneer lumber on strength by the ultrasonic velocity, according to the positive correlation of velocity and elastic modulus of laminated veneer lumber.This study can conclude the following conclusions:The system this paper researched can apply on the laminated veneer lumber production line. The system has the ability of prediction of laminated veneer material’s mechanical strength, and it is real-time and accurately.
