Recently, most batch dyeing machine controllers in our country are mainly based onSingle-Chip Microcomputer or Programmable Logic Controller to implement dyeing processcontrol and temperature control. These controllers have some disadvantages such as unfriendlyhuman-computer interaction, simple control function, and weak network interconnection abilityand so on. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the advanced batch dyeing machine controller tosolve the problems of the traditional batch dyeing machine controllers for effectively improvingthe automation level of the batch dyeing process.In this thesis, on the basis of the detailed analysis of the batch dyeing process, the design ofa batch dyeing machine controller based on embedded technology, which has better performancethan Single-Chip Microcomputer or Programmable Logic Controller, is put forward. As for thehardware design, the structure of the traditional industrial computer is discarded and the32-bitwide ARM chip is chosen as the controller’s CPU. Accordingly the input and output modularcircuits are designed in terms of the technical requirements of the typical batch dyeing machine.Besides, the functions such as network communication and touch screen and so on arestrengthened. As for the software design, the embedded Linux, which is open source, is chosenas the operating system, while the integrated programming tool QT is used to design thecontroller software composed by the modules such as system setup, dyeing-program setup,dyeing-program display, status and warning display and technical process control and so on,according to the entire batch dyeing process.The temperature control algorithm for the batch dyeing process is developed. As theaccuracy and robustness of the commonly used PID algorithm have been limited, a novel methodto precisely control the heating and cooling stages for batch dyeing process based on predictivesliding mode control algorithm is proposed in this thesis, which uses the actual output value tobuild the predictive model, and constructs the reference trajectory based on sliding mode control. The simulation results show that the new predictive sliding mode control can exactly trackingcontrol the temperature changes of the dyeing process.In this thesis, the automatic control functions of the developed batch dyeing machinecontroller are tested on a simulated batch dyeing system using the dyeing-program as the basis,and the results show that the controller can well control the system and the control function, thehuman-computer interaction, and network interconnection are all improved. The batch dyeingmachine controller has achieved the designed object, which can greatly improve the function andperformance of the batch dyeing machine controller, thus promoting the progress of theautomation and information level of dyeing and finishing enterprises.
