With the rapid development of the national economy,the exploitation quantity and demand quantity grew year by year,and coal is the mainly source of our nation,this situation will not change in a long period.After exploiting at shallow ground many years,the coal that buried at shallow ground which can be easily exploited become less and less.coal mines have to exploit coal which buried in deep ground. As the growth of embedded depth,the geological condition becomes much more bad than before.In this background, this thesis tries to put forward a better roadway support design method.The following researching work is completed:1. This thesis put forward a new research way for roadway support design, this way allows the designer selecting a design method before he begins one roadway support design. this thesis summaried seveval methods of roadway support design.2. Expert system has been applied in some fields, this thesis applied this method to roadway support design,two critical parts of expert system are database and reasoning mechanism algorithm, this thesis put forward two way to build database and a simple but useful reasoning mechanism algorithm that based on vector intercomparison.3. This thesis summaried the theory of ground-support characteristic curve support design method, analyzed the calculation method of ground characteristic curve,analyzed the harmful effects to ground characteristic curve after considing elastic-plastic volume strain and dilatancy, applied Heok-Brown failure criterion to research the ground characteristic curve in the condition on failure of rock mass.4. Researched on the method of the blend programming for VB and C++, analyzed the method of connecting and operating Access database in VB, described the advantages of this method in efficiency. Author used this programming method design a software "roadway support design system",this software has friendly interfaces, and contains all the content of expert system which researched in this thesis, and successfully implemented all the algorithm described in thesis.
