The solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber(SSBR) with highvinyl content was produced successfully by the use of butyl lithium as initiator,mixture of hexane and hexamethylene as solution, tin tetrachloride or silicontetrachloride as coupling agent and GSA With independent intellectualproperty rights as structure modifier. The synthesis was carried out on bothbench-scale and pilot equipments. The coupling ratio of products with vinylcontent of60-65wt%can reach as high as70%, which are contradictories inthe synthesis of SSBR. The initiation temperature was controlled between25℃and35℃, which was close to ambient temperature, and the reactiontemperature was not over80℃.In this way, the present technique for SSBRsolved the problem of heat removal and made the industrial production moreefficient, which was better than the traditional lithium process and can beapplied in the intermittent production device due to the low viscosity ofsynthesis system. In the present study,we investigated the properties of SSBRin terms of fillers and curatives, as well as two binary systems of SSBR blended with Butadiene rubber.The results showed that the SSBR compoundsexhibited excellent mechanical and dynamic properties, which are equal to theforeign counterparts. The presented SSBR can satisfy the need of tyresrequired for highway and has the commercial potential for industrialproduction.
