A new type high vinyl solution polymerized styrene butadiene rubber(SSBR2535E) were used as the matrix to prepare tire tread compounds with the high wet-skid, low-rolling resistance and high performance respectively through the blending with different rubber. The blending ratio, curing system, filler content and processing parameters(temperature, speed, time) were optimized.The curing characteristics, physio-mechanical properties, abrasion resistance, heat build-up and dynamic properties were measured and compared. The results showed that for the high wet-skid tread compounds, the best blending ratio is ESBR1502/2535E=45/75, with the content of sulfur silica is 1.75 phr and 70 phr respectively. The best initial processing temperature is 90?, with rotor speed being70 rpm and mixing time being 780 s. For the low-rolling resistance tire tread compounds, the best blending ratio is SSBR2535E/BR=75/25, with the content of sulfur and silica is 1.7phr and 70 phr respectively. The best initial processing temperature is 90?, with rotor speed being 80 rpm and mixing time being 560 s. For the high-performance tire tread compounds, the best blending ratio is SSBR2535E/NR=30/70, with the content of sulfur and silica is 1.5phr and 45 phr respectively. The best initial processing temperature is 90?, with rotor speed being80 rpm and mixing time being 560 s.Based on the Mannich reaction mechanism, a new type of tea polyphenol based rubber additive(TPM) was prepared by blending the tea polyphenol with the2-mercaptobenzothiazole(accelerator M) and formaldehyde. Its effects on the processing, mechanical and anti-ageing properties were investigated. It was found that,for the silica compounds, this new rubber additive possessed the characteristics of surface modification of silica, antioxidant and accelerator. For the carbon black compound, it possessed the characteristics of antioxidant, accelerator and softener.Therefore, TPM is a kind of “green”, multi-functional rubber additives.
