With the development of national economy and the carry out of West-East gastransmission project, pipeline is playing an increasingly bigger role in oil and gastransportation. The gas pipeline is one of the large linear projects which willinevitably through various geomorphic units and encounter different engineeringgeological problems along the way. Chinais one of the most developed countries of geological disasters in the world, landslides occur more frequently and make an prominent impact on the safeoperation of oil and gas pipelines. This paper focuses on the study of pipeline stressand deformation influenced by landslide which induced artificially and the interactionbetween the pipeline and landslide to provide effective technical support forthe economic governance of such disasters. It sets forth in brief the related progress of the pipeline-landslide research, analysis of the need for the lager scale model test. The design of large-scale model testprograms and related physical and mechanical parameters were given by the largenumber of field surveys and the exploration of site simulation of small size landslidemodel test. The length of the test model is about15m, width is about13.8m,thickness of the slope is approximately5.2m, the volume is about1080m3, inclinationangle of the slide bed is about20°. Pipeline is under ground1.5m, the width pipelinecrossing the landslide zone is about11.7m.It is the first time to expound the implementation and control process of outdoorlarge scale model test systematically, including the construction of landslide body andpipeline laying etc. Feature of landslide deformation and pipeline stress as well aspipe stress calculation method and the relationship between each other obtained atdifferent test stage. Three dimensional numerical model established according to theactual large scale mode. Natural landslide model and pipeline crossing landslide model were both calculated by FLAC3D numerical simulation. This paper makesfurther analysis to the stress, deformation and stability of landslide and pipeline whichcompared with the results of field test. The simulation results are in good agreementwith the large scale model test results. In the end, the paper puts forward a directionalcontrol measures and suggestions combined with landslide control methods andexperiences.
