As a new type of modified hyper branched polymers, polysiloxanemodified amphiphilic hyper branched polyester has great potentialapplication in fields of biology, drug-loading and defoaming due to itsspecial self-assembly behavior and excellent surface activity. This dissertationincludes the work of preparing hyper branched polyester-g-polysiloxane andtheir applications in defoamers. The main achievements of this thesis aresummarized as follows.In this thesis, the polysiloxane modified amphiphilic hyperbranchedpolyester was synthesised through three facile steps. Afterwords, the structureof synthesized polysiloxane modified amphiphilic hyper branched polyesterwas characterized by FT-IR, GPC and NMR.As an amphiphilic polymer, the polysiloxane modified amphiphilichyperbranched polyester has a special self-assembly behavior in selectivesolvents. It was found that this amphiphilic polymer could form hollowvesicles with different shapes and structures in the mixed solvent of ethanol and water, while the formation of the hollow vesicles had good stability for along time without aggregation. Considering the silicone materials haveexcellent biocompatibility and non-toxic side effects compared with purecarbon skeleton polymers, the polysiloxane modified amphiphilichyperbranched polyester is expected to be applied in the fields of biology anddrug loading.This thesis also introduces the use of the polysiloxane modifiedamphiphilic hyperbranched polyester in siloxane defoamer. The madedefoamer was stable which had an excellent defoaming effect.
