Macleaya microcarpa (the Papaveraceae family) is a perennial herb plant distributedwidely in China and a traditional Chinese medicine, which has various importantpharmacologic activities. Alkaloids are its main active constituents. The aim of this research isto establish a fast extraction and isolation method of alkaloids from Macleaya microcarpa andevaluate their antimicrobial activities against animial pathogenic bacteria and plantpathogenic fungi. The results of this research are as follows.1. A new method was established to extract and isolate the alkaloids from Macleayamicrocarpa, which is high effective and convenient.2.12plant pathogenic fungi as tested fungi, and the antifungal activities were tested bylinear growth rate method. The test showed that five alkaloids have different inhibition against12plant pathogenic fungi, and benzophenanthridine alkaloids have better antifungal activitythan protopine alkaloids. The best inhibition effect among five alkaloids are sanguinarine andchelerythrine, which the inhibition rate against Fusarium coeruleum reached81.9%and90.0%respectively.3. The result of antibacterial showed that sanguinarine is the best in againstStaphylococcus aureus, the mass concentration of MIC is5mg/L; chelerythrine is the bestwhen is used to against E. coli, the mass concentration of MIC is10mg/L; in addition thethree protopines didn’t showed inhibition effect to two animal pathogenic bacteria. The new method which established in this research could be used for magnifiedproduction, and the results of antifungal and antibacterial provided some theoretical basis todevelop new pesticide.
