In today’s global economic integration, the traditional wedding textile design is affected by exotic cultureseverely. On one hand, the domestic wedding textile design style show" West indefectible" phenomenon, ignoring the rich ethnic characteristics of traditional patterns, pursuing fashion:modern and simple western style. On the other hand, western design circles are setting a" Chinese wind", combining Chinese style and Western fashion elements together, to create many home textile patterns which not only reflect the spirit of the time, but also rich in Chinese classical flavor; and this turn out to be a great success.As a Chinese designer, we should have thought over the reality. Taking "National is International" as a base, keeping native and national characteristics and traditional culture, keeping Chinese native nation style to design becomes especially significant.This article begins exploring Shanxi paper-cu, from the wedding textile’s point of view, exploring ways in which to apply Shanxi paper-cutting cultural connotation to modern marriage household textile design. Then eventually rising to the topic, that is, how to construct the Chinese characteristics of wedding home textiles design style; And how to inherit and develop the essence of Chinese traditional culture in the textile industry.The study will protect China’s traditional cultural heritage, promote the national art, break through the western textile design style main influence, make Chinese textile design style occupy a space in the international textile design circles, make the " East Wind blow to the West", have extremely far-reaching sense.When composing this article, I applied the method that " linking theory with practice". Firstly, through meticulous market survey to the aesthetic orientation of the young current consumers by using carefully designed questionnaire, this article analyzes the feasibility and necessity on combining the Chinese traditional culture with modern wedding textiles design. And then select the traditional paper-cutting art in Shanxi as the design source, and to describe the origin and development of the traditional paper-cut. Moreover, through the massive query of the related literature and personal field investigation in northern Shanxi and analysis of Life etiquette related to paper-cut, we proceed to find out the inner beauty of the patterns, color and shape of paper cutting. Finally, by the outside shape and interior meaning of paper cutting, we extract our ancestors’ valuable experiences and create our own graduation work.Based on careful study of the traditional paper-cut, we intend to enrich our own perception and understanding of traditional culture, broaden our vision of aesthetics, in the process of integration of modern textile design, to understand the Chinese nation’s unique way of thinking and cultural language contained in Chinese traditional elements. We could get a perception of the Chinese nation’s five thousand years of endless vitality and creativity.
