With the rapid development of the petrochemical industry, the separation and utilization of cracking C5fractions are increasingly attracting the general attention of the world. The mass about65%of piperylene can be obtained by separation of C5fractions. To manufacture high-grade aliphatic petroleum resin, namely piperylene petroleum resin, is piperylene’s main application. These resins generally possess characteristics of light color, low density, high saturation, good increase viscosity and thermal stability, and were widely used in adhesives, hot melt road marking paint, paint ink, rubber chemicals, etc.Production of piperylene petroleum resin is general polymerized by traditional catalyst, AlCl3. When the catalyst removal prone to emulsification, and there will be a large number of wastewater, post-treatment process is relatively complex and the product has a poor quality. Therefore, improving their production methods has great significance.A series of silica materials immobilized with aluminum chloride, AlCl3/SiO2, was prepared using impregnation procedure of SiO2with AlCl3. Influence of the AlCl3loadings was studied. Silica support pretreated with H2O2has the largest immobilizing amount. These materials were tested by polymerization of1,3-piperylene to petroleum resin, the effect of different co-catalysts was also studied. When methanesulfonic acid (CH4O3S) applied in current catalytic system, it can obviously enhance the catalytic activity of the AlCl3/SiO2materials. Finally, the effect of CH4O3S amount on the properties of the resin was investigated. A perfect resin production with softening point, color value, and yield is105.1℃,2, and82.6%, respectively, when the value of n(CH4O3S):n(Al) is0.1. In the catalytic system, the catalyst was easily separated, and the reusability was evaluated.We also synthesized a series of transition metal complexes of nickel, and thus carried out the catalytic polymerization of piperylene experimental results show that nickel dimming complexes of piperylene polymerization has a catalytic effect, with the significance of further research.
