Piperylene mainly comes from cracking C5fraction, it accounts for about10~20%in the mixed C5. Piperylene has two isomers respectively are trans and cis,the mainly application for the Piperylene are production of petroleum resin andcuring agent, etc. Piperylene petroleum resin was obtained by cationicpolymerization reaction of piperylene monomer. Piperylene petroleum resin withcolor shallow, moderate softening point, good for viscosity increasing and otheradvantages, it is mainly used for road sign paint, tackifier, adhesives, etc.In this paper, piperylene as the main raw material, aluminium trichloride ascatalyst and toluene as solvent,many kinds of additives was joined during theexperiment, under the protection of nitrogen, the polymerization reaction stared,and obtained the piperylene petroleum resin product by caustic washing, waterwashing, vacuum distillation. The author analyzed the experimental results inthis paper, it also discussed the influence of the catalyst, solvent, reactiontemperature, reaction time, alkaline cleaning condition, water content on theexperiment results. The paper also involved piperylene concentrate thermalpolymerization experiment, piperylene petroleum resin hydrogenation test andapplication test. It had analyzed the "three wastes" and treatment method, anddiscussed the influence factor of piperylene petroleum resin chroma andsoftening point.The optimum technological conditions were determined as follows: toluene/piperylene=1/4, about3%of catalyst, reaction temperature50~60℃,reaction time is7~8hours. The softening point of petroleum resin can reach80~100℃,4-6Gardner chromaticity, about85~90%yield. Measured by theauthoritative department, all the indexes of piperylene petroleum resin productsmeet the requirements of the contract.
