Organoselenium chemistry has been developed rapidly over the past decades, and selenium-based methodology is a powerful tool in organic syntheis now. Many organoselenium reagents have important use in synthetic organic chemistry. Volatile organoselenium compound, often have very unpleasant smells and some are toxic. These properties have reduced their attractiveness for applications. Ionic liquids have received much attention in recent years as environmentally benign reaction media for organic synthesis. They possess many interesting properties such as negligible vapor pressure, high thermal stability and special solubility. They have also been refereed to as "designable solvents" because their chemical and physical properties can be adjusted by modifying the structure of the cation or the anion. So it becomes very important for us to explore the green and simple synthesis selenium ionic liquid route and to find new applications becomes.1. In this work, some novel selenium ionic liquids have been prepared successfully, and characterized by1H-NMR, FT-IR to determine the result of the ionic liquid, which were found that there is a pure synthesis of these ionic liquids.2. The new applications of the selenium ionic liquids in the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes and ketones have been found, and have great potential for the environmentally benign oxidation of alcohols with TBHP under mild conditions.3. Notably, this new type of ionic liquids can be recycled for further use without loss of the efficiency.
