With the rapid process of global industrialization and the growth of energydemand, oil spill has become a global problem. oil spill and other petroleumcontaminations frequently enter seawater and soil, posing potential risks to theecological environment and human health. Oil fingerprint analysis and appraisal isone of the important technological methods to determine the source of oil spillaccidents offshore, providing the scientific basis and forensic evidence for assessingthe pollution damage to the environment, solving the dispute over the oil spill anddetermining the responsibility. In recent years, various testing techniques, diagnosis rate, and the dataprocessing means has been widely applied to the oil spill source identification, however, the pretreatment of samples has been ignored, especially for the part ofpetroleum hydrocarbons dissolved in seawater. In addition, due to the smaller oilsolubility, the existence of background may has some effect on diagnosis ratio for oilspill identification. For above-mentioned, some researches are performed in this paper, results showthat:The apply of extraction method of organic matter in seawater to oil fingerprintachieves good effects, which show it is suitable for fingerprint identification. As forhexane, the recovery of alkane hydrocarbon is between66.389.8%, the relativestandard deviation range from3.2to12.3%, the recovery of PAHs is between74.988.4%, the relative standard deviation range1.7to10.7%.Using the optimized method, we test background situation of Shilaoren beach atQingdao. n-Alkanes carbon numbers range from C11to C22, the concentrations vary1.08to2.21μg·L-1, with an average1.61μg·L-1. N-Alkanes distribution patterns areperformance for the single-peak type, the carbon peak is C16/C18/C21/pr, existingUCM.The values of pr/ph imply that sea water are polluted by oil. During the fivesurveys,C17/Pr ratio is between0.46to2.06,with a mean value1.25,C18/Ph ratio isbetween0.24to2.35,with a mean value of1.18。The concentrations of16PAHs vary from184.48to328.59ng·L-1, the average is258.34ng·L-1,two and three-rings are the primarily composition, five or six ring arenot detected. Among them, Phenanthrene and anthracene has reached the ecotoxi-cological risk standard. There is a seasonal change in the PAHs levels, concentrations of summer are higher than that of autumn and winter. The diagnostic ratio Phe/Ant andFlu/Pyr suggest oil pollution is the main sources of PAHs pollution of Qingdaoseawater in summer and autumn, the fossil fuels combustion is the main sources ofPAHs in spring.Sample added standards experiments show that the background of the sea hascertain effect on the characteristics of diagnostic ratio. Properties of ratios, differencesbetween oil and sea water, the amount of oil dissolved, can reduce the accuracy andprecision of diagnostic ratios, even produce enough error to influence the results ofjudgement. The quantitative ratio of deducting the most close to the theoretical value, and relative standard deviation is small.
